Snow Day!

It's a snow day! We had a fair amount of snow over the past few days, including a pretty heavy 'snow storm' yesterday lunchtime. Naturally, England being useless when there is a change of weather; it caused a panic. Chaos ensued. Temperatures reached -11 in the City and -13 in the countryside. COLD.
The playground at school was clear 30 mins before this...

The Head at school told parents to come and collect the kiddies as it was just getting worse. Some parents were in the car for up to 3 hours trying to get to school (I dread to think how long getting home again), with the last one of the kids leaving school at 7.15pm. The city was gridlocked and most of the roads in the city centre were completely shut off. Madness.

So...today for the first time EVER I have a snow day off school. I think every school in Norfolk is shut and no doubt the kids are having a blast. I have decided to stay in and get on with some school work.

The animals are all snuggled up in the warm too. The cats hate the snow, Wilson especially. The last time we had any considerable snow, Wilson got lost for 3 days. I was, naturally, terrified, but he is now home and snoring away.

Peggy's not quite sure what to make of it. She likes eating it, but clearly doesn't like having to go out and pee in it! Poor girl is so low to the ground!

Now I've reached the target for school work that I set myself  (YIPEE I love reaching my goals)- I'm going to have a bit of time to myself.

I see crochet, netflix and the Kindle fire on the horizon....

  1. Ah to have a snow day. I always wish I lived somewhere it snows when I see photos of snow days like this. It'll be 80 here today in Florida...80!!! I loathe the heat and even more so when it's SUPPOSED to be chilly at least. Lordy...your kittens look smitten with you being home to cozy up to!

  3. Norwich has been chaos! I'm out in the countryside, now off to shovel snow away from my tyres and attempt to get through the country lanes and into the city! xx

  4. Jeeeeez it sounds mental! Hope everyone is safe :/ we had a snow day about two years ago when I was teacher training and it was the BEST DAY OF MY LIFE. Just *not* being at school... This doesn't make me sound great. Anyway- loads of folk were sledging down Arthurs Seat in Edinburgh using baking trays and frying pans. Ive been praying for some more snow and a glorious snow day here but we've just had a few measly flakes. So make the most of your snow day!xxx

  5. I know it's silly, because I know how ridiculous us Brits get about snow, but I'm so jealous. We've barely had any up here yet, and I really want to see how my dogs react to it. One of them is a Huskycross and she's never seen proper snow so I think it'll be a beautiful moment. The kids must be so excited about the snow day, I can totally understand why you are hiding out inside! Have an amazing day off xo

  9. I can't help but be jealous! We have had heat waves lately - the exact opposite of a snow day and completely unenjoyable even when you get sent home because it's so darn hot!

I've never actually seen snow before. One of the downsides of living in Australia, I suppose :)
