Our First Date...
OK, so a slightly misleading title, but we did have one awkward moment when we were asked how we knew each other.. "It's like our first date...but we're not lesbians!"
So, on Saturday, Erica and I did exactly what we were always told not to do as a teenager; meet up with someone you have met over the internet. Luckily for us, neither of us were either:
A) a 50 year old man
B) a murderer
C) a creep
Believe me, we were both nervous. A constant stream of texts, emails, tweets etc etc mixed with the 'Are you nervous? What if you don't get on in real life?' questions from our nearest and dearest meant that by the time Saturday came, we were both a bundle of nerves.
So I set my alarm for 5:30 (ouch) and got on the train from Norwich to London at 7am. I reached Liverpool Street, got the bus to London Bridge, where I met my long lost twin. I mean, seriously, could I find anyone else on this earth more like me?
Needless to say, we got on like a house on fire, so much so, that our picture taking was pretty poor. We were just too busy chatting, shopping, eating and drinking coffee to find the time.
It started with Monmouth Coffee (queued down the road) and a stroll around Borough Market to buy The Best Brownies In The World and some Gooseberry Jam (quite fitting for me, I bought it because my Nan always made it for me as a a kid, and we were in the shadows of Southwark Cathedral, where she got married. I love being in that part of London.)
We visited Judy's Vintage Fair in Spitalfields where we both got lucky at a stall with a £5 rail and wandered round with faces shocked at some of the prices (and distinctly non-vintage stalls with random crappy tshirts and hoodies).
Then we departed for Primark (it was like the Mothership was calling us home). We were both very sensible; I bought a (reduced) dress to wear for work, a new belt and a pair of canvas pumps.
By this point we were both STARVING so we headed to Banana Tree for some seriously yummy Asian food. I still cannot stop thinking about those dumplings. SO GOOD. We quickly realised that we only had 2 hours left before I had to get back to Liverpool St to get my train home. We made a mad (full stomached) dash to Forever 21; I got a lovely green spotty dress) and a quick wander towards Bond St, where we were forced apart by my need to get the train home.
We have plans to do it all over again soon...watch this space.
LOVE YOU ERICA x

Looks like so much fun! Good work on the bargain buys. Really sweet you were both so nervous, ha!xx
ReplyDeleteWe certainly couldn't go shopping without getting a few bargains!
DeleteGreat photos, I want to check out that vintage fair. xx
ReplyDeleteIt was pretty good actually. There was obviously some stuff that was ridiculously priced, especially for me as a non Londoner, but lots of bargains to be had too!
DeleteHow did I not see you guys there? It's not a big place!!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you too got on so well. I love the "first date but not lesbians" thing! You've inspired me to (maybe) meet virtual friends in real life.
Becky
